About Us:
Pauline
I am a qualified Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
offerring a range of dog training and behaviour solutions. I established and run
the Pauline Whittaker Dog Training Schools in Amersham,
Bledlow Ridge and
Saunderton Lee.I offer puppy, pet and advanced courses as well as fun obedience in Amersham. At Saunderton Lee I run "Fun" Agility courses and Outdoor training which is specifically to help with recalls and general outdoors control. In Amersham, courses are run on a Wednesday morning at Amersham Common Village Hall and in Bledlow Ridge courses are run on a Monday evening at Bledlow Ridge Village Hall. The club at Saunderton Lee runs on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday daytimes. I live between Aylesbury and High Wycombe and also offer behavioural consultations and 1-2-1 training within your own home (in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire) to advance your training and resolve behavioural issues. Please see our 1-2-1 page for more details. I am a member of the APDT, No 00744 and have previously been the Committee Secretary and an Assessor for them. I hold the Diploma (with distinction) in "The Practical Aspects of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training" awarded by COAPE - Centre for Applied Pet Ethology. I also have qualifications in "Canine Behaviour Counselling: Theory and Practice", "Introduction to Canine Psychology" and "Advanced Canine Psychology", completed with the Animal Care College, and I am an Associate Member of the college. In addition I regularly attend seminars and workshops on everything from aggression to clicker training, always ensuring I am fully up to date with current knowledge and methods about Canine Behaviour and Training.
I have always lived with dogs, growing up with a Basset Hound and Golden Retrievers and more recently Border Collies and Working Sheepdogs. I have owned rescue dogs and rehomed dogs as well as those acquired as a puppy. Currently I live with two working sheepdogs. I compete in agility with both my dogs.
Emma
Emma is an experienced instructor who has worked with me for several years. She runs the Outdoor courses on Thursdays in Saunderton
Lee and is a dog trainer at our Amersham
and
Bledlow Ridge clubs. Emma is available for 1-2-1 lessons and can give advice to new puppy owners, owners who have general obedience issues and those who require help to resolve recall problems. She also carries out 1-2-1 lessons with dogs who need to be resocialised with other dogs. Emma runs a dog walking business in the Amersham area and owns three dogs Heidi a long haired Dachshund, Dylan a Cocker Spaniel and Teasle a very mischievous Sheltie! She trains Dylan and Teasle in Competitive Obedience and Agility. Emma qualified as a member of the APDT in April 2008, her membership number is 01007. She has completed an advanced behaviour course with COAPE and will be commencing the COAPE Diploma in the Practical Aspects of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training in 2010.
Carol
Carol works as a professional dog walker. She has two black labradors and a English Springer Spaniel. She has trained one of her labradors as a working gun dog and is currently training her spaniel to the same level. She is also a volunteer at The Dogs Trust.Carol is an Instructor at our Amersham club and gained her APDT qualification in October 2009 (membership number 1073). She is in her second year of a foundation degree in canine behaviour and training. Carol works for me in running gundog classes at Saunderton Lee. She also helps me to run the Amersham club taking classes for me there. Carol is also available for 1-2-1 lessons.
Linda
Linda is a qualified riding instructor with over 40 years of owning horses and dogs.She instructs at the agility classes on Tuesdays and at Amersham on Wednesday mornings. She also does assessments for older/rescue dogs who are joining the pet classes and teaches on 1-2-1 agility lessons for beginners. She is currently just starting a COAPE 4 course which is designed for dog trainers and is taking her APDT exam in 2010. She is also now competing with her Terrier Tessa at UKA and KC Agility shows.
Liz
Liz is an assistant dog trainer at our Outdoor classes. Liz has completed the Think Dog intermediate course with Alpha Education.
She has three dogs – two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and a black and tan Patterdale Terrier.
She trains her dogs in Competitive Obedience.She is available for occasional 1-2-1 lessons in the Tring area.
Estelle
Estelle is a trainee dog instructor at our Bledlow Ridge
club and is hoping to qualify as an APDT trainer under Pauline's supervision. She
is currently studying a part time post graduate diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour
Counselling at Southampton University. She also volunteers at Stokenchurch Dog Rescue
and owns two New Forest Ponies and four guinea pigs. |
